"Milwaukee" is a photographic series inspired by the strange experience of living in a city that felt simultaneously familiar and foreign. During a nearly three-month internship, Milwaukee became my temporary home, yet as an American who had never lived in the United States, I constantly felt like both a local and an outsider, connected yet detached.
Photographing the city in black and white allowed me to process this duality, emphasizing the stark contrasts of the urban landscape and mirroring my internal sense of displacement. Revisiting and editing the images months later reinforced those feelings, transforming initial uncertainty into something tangible, and capturing a period defined by transition, learning, and unanswered questions.
